Tribeca 2007 Day 1: Times and Winds and Lady Chatterley

The 2007 Tribeca Film Festival is off and running, and things seem to be going smoothly for the most part. Last night, I took in the Turkish Times and Winds and the French Lady Chatterley. Of the two, the less heralded Times and Winds is the one to see. It might be a bit slow-moving for some, but it’s an absolutely gorgeous film.

Lady Chatterley had its moments, but felt overlong. Of course, it’s case wasn’t helped by the fact that the projectionist at AMC screened the first half hour with the background in focus rather than the foreground. Add this to the film’s already deliberately soft focus, it’s a headache waiting to happen.

Show times and ticketing information for the rest of the festival can be found at the TFF Web site.
